Vijay not only follows superstar Rajini's mannerisms...and his stories too! Pokkiri is almost a remake of 'Pandian'. Few scenes have also been 'shot' from Pandian. But Vijay has done some justification atleast to his character via his lustic annd freak action style. This will definitely attract his teen fans. In the fight scenes, he really thrills the viewers, particularly the Stone Fort stunt. The credit goes to Fefsi Vijayan and Vijay. What is the job for an heroine in an action oriented film? Just loving the hero, singing songs along with him in colourfull locations and finally joining him with joyful tears in climax. Asin, the heroine of Pokkiri did exactly the same! The dance sequences really enthralled the viewers. It is a double treat to the fans to see Prabhu Deva's dancing style being done by Vijay. But how long can a person see dances and fights over and over again?
Villain Prakash Raj is introduced in a Dawood Ibrahim like role, an international underworld Don, But scene after scene his grade has been reduced and finally he became a mere clown! Apart from Prakash Raj there are some more Villains are there... Anandha Raj, Vincent Ashokan and few telugu faces... There are hundreds of murders and deaths with guns take place in this film. No authority has questioned anybody. The murderer Vijay is free - chatting with friends, loving his heroine and dancing with her. These things are only possible in a Tamil movie!
The music scored by Mani Sharma. He retained few tunes from the original Pokkiri version and remix the evergreen Tamil hit 'Vasanthamullai Pole Vandhu...'. The song in the underworld dons secret auditorium is enchanting. The sexy movements of the dancer is a special visual treat to the youth, but for orthodox viewers it may be an irritation. Neerav Shah's camera work is commendable. And the directorial part.... We are expecting some new things from this dancing legend. Maybe it will fullfilled in this tamil venture of his.
