Asin Thottumkal was born in Cochin, India on the 26th of October 1981. Asin Thottumkal was born in Cochin, India on the 26th of October 1981. She debuted into the movie world through director Sathyan Anthikad's "Narendaran Makan" with Malayalyee actor Kunjachacko Boban. She speaks a wide range of languages such as Malyalyam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and English. She is now currently studying B.A. English Literature at St. Teresa's College, Cochin.

At just the age of 21, Asin has already tasted success, initially in Malyalam movies, and then in Telegu movies. The daughter of a doctor in Ernakulam, she was also the winner of an entrepreneurial award as a teenager. This exposure brought her first ever movie in Malyalam. After her initial success, she was offered Telegu movies, and warmly welcomed in the Telegu film industry. It was a smooth transition from Telugu to Tamil with the film "M Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmi". Asin starred in the original Telugu version, so she was the obvious choice for the Tamil remake, opposite Jeyam Ravi. The movie was a super hit. What makes Asin hot in the Tamil film industry is that she has teamed up with all the top heroes -- Vijay, Ajit, Surya and now Vikram, in his next film "Maja". Now it remains to be seen if Asin's success will continue in Bollywood also.

Asin Thottumkal who is now known as Asin is a native of Kerala. She was born on 26th October, 1981 in Hyderabad and is the only daughter of her parents Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Celine Joseph. Though her mother tongue is Malayalam, she speaks French, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English. She is a literature student of St. Teresa's College, Cochin . She was into business and modeling before entering the film industry. Her entry to films was through the Malayalam industry. During her leisure, Asin spends time reading books. She also loves watching movies and cartoons, especially Tom and Jerry. Her favorite colors are Red and Black. Though we see her in screen in traditional costumes wearing lot of jewels, we will rarely see her off-screen like that. Jeans and Shirts is her favorite attire. She loves Kerela rice and fried fresh water fish. Asin's principle of success is hard work. She works almost round the clock with utmost sincerity which is fetching her glory.
