Meera Jasmine whose original name is Jasmine Mary Joseph is from Kuttapuzha, Thiruvalla, a small town in Kerela. She is the daughter of Joseph Philip and Aleyamma Philip. She is doing her degree in Home Science. Her entry into the film industry was through Malayalam. It was director Lohitadas who introduced her in his Malayalam movie Soothradharan. Meera is a simple and down to earth person. Her choices are also undemanding. Her favorite attire is Half Saree and she loves to look homely. Her concept of love is not love at first sight. She believes in love which comes after understanding each other.

Meera loves music. She is always found with a walkman in her ears. Her favorite singer is Ilayaraja and she adores Ilayaraja's melodies a lot. She also spends her leisure time watching Hindi movies. Meera Jasmine is one of the most talented actress in the malayalam cinema world. Meera Jasmine is now the most sought-after heroine in the Tamil film industry. She has the best banners calling her and she stars in films opposite the most popular heroes. she did perform good roles, and that she has been acknowledged as a good actress by the public. However, Meera Jasmine feels from the bottom of her heart, that after ïRunï she has been receiving only insults. Meera Jasmine seems to be a great actress, with immense talent and good looks.

Meera Jasmine: Career

A chance meeting with Malayalam screenwriter Lohithadas gave way to her debut in Malayalam Cinema through the movie Soothradharan in 2001. She assumed the screen name "Meera" Jasmine, reportedly out of her fascination for Meera, a mystical devotee of Lord Krishna.
Soothradharan did not do well at the box office. However, she continued to receive offers from Malayalam and Tamil film-makers, including the 2002 Tamil films Run and Bala. The success of Run made her a well-known star in Kollywood. She did a number of Tamil movies with popular actors, and then proceeded to work with director Mani Ratnam in the film Aayitha Ezhuthu.
Her 2003 Malayalam film Paadhom Onnu: Oru Vilaapam (roughly translates into 'Lesson One: A Lament'), won her India's National Film Award for Best Actress. She entered Telugu cinema in 2004 with Ammayi Bagundi and Gudumba Shankar, with the former becoming a box-office success while earning her good reviews. She also entered Kannada cinema in 2004 with the film Mourya, in which she co-starred with Puneet Rajkumar. After making her entry into all four South Indian languages, she has acted concurrently in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films. Her successful movies include Achuvinte Amma (Malayalam), Bhadra (Telugu) and Rasatantram (Malayalam). Her 2005 Tamil film Sandai Kozhi completed 200 days of successful running. Its dubbed Telugu version is also a success, and she has been described by the Telugu media as a "crowd puller"
